What is ECU cloning?
ECU cloning is the process of copying all of the data from your original engine control unit — the VIN, immobilizer and security settings, and the factory calibration — onto a compatible replacement unit, creating an exact duplicate. The cloned module carries your vehicle’s original programming, so it works the moment it’s installed. There is no trip to the dealer and no separate programming appointment.
When do you need it?
Cloning is the answer when an original module is damaged beyond repair and the only other option is buying and programming a brand-new unit at dealer prices. If you have sourced a used or replacement ECU that is a hardware match for your vehicle, we can transfer your original data onto it, keeping your factory settings and avoiding immobilizer mismatches that would otherwise leave the car unable to start.
Why choose cloning
Keep factory performance
Your original calibration is preserved exactly, so the vehicle drives the way the manufacturer intended, with no compatibility issues.
Skip dealer pricing
A cloned module costs a fraction of a new dealer unit plus programming, often saving hundreds of dollars per repair.
Plug-and-play install
Because the VIN and immobilizer data match, the cloned unit installs directly with no additional coding at a shop.
How it works
1
Send your module
Place your order and ship us your original ECU/PCM/TCM along with the matching replacement unit. We will email you packing instructions.
2
We clone & test
Our technicians copy your VIN, immobilizer data and calibration to the replacement, then bench-test it to confirm it is an exact match.
3
Install & drive
We ship the cloned unit back ready to install. Drop it in and go, with no dealer visit and no extra programming needed.
Frequently asked questions
Is cloning the same as repairing my ECU?
No. Repair fixes faults on your existing board. Cloning is used when the original is beyond repair, so we transfer its data to a working replacement unit and you keep your factory programming.
Do I need to provide a replacement unit?
In most cases, yes. You supply a donor unit that is a hardware match for your vehicle, and we clone your data onto it. If you are not sure what qualifies as a match, send us your part number and we will confirm before you order.
Why does the VIN need to match?
The VIN and immobilizer data tie the ECU to your specific vehicle. Cloning copies them exactly, which is what lets the replacement start the car and function without a mismatch error.
How long does it take?
Most clones are completed within 24 to 48 hours of us receiving your module, plus return shipping time. Every clone is backed by a 12-month warranty.
Not sure if cloning is right for your unit?
Send us your vehicle’s make, model, year and the part number on your module. We will tell you whether cloning or repair is the better route, and give you a firm quote before you ship anything.
